Archery-Paralympic Overview

Archery was the first event at the inaugural International Games for the Disabled at Stoke Mandeville in 1948 and has been on the Paralympics schedule since the Rome Games in 1960.

Open to athletes with a physical disability only, men and women compete individually and in team events at the Games. Shooting the Olympic round only (70m, qualification and finals) paralympic archers compete in the categories, namely, ARW1, ARW2 and ARST. Scoring mirrors that at the Olympic Games.

A lasting memory for the sport was when Paralympian, Antonio Rebollo lit the Olympic and Paralympic flames in Barcelona with a burning arrow.
